Ken is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Clarksville Tennessee. He is a doctoral candidate with both practice and research interests in the issues faced by military families. As a 20 year military veteran with multiple combat tours, Ken is often asked to train other clinicians on the nuances of serving military families. A true scholar-practitioner, he uses only evidence-based practices supported by his own education, training and research. In addition to private practice, Ken also works with various other agencies to remain abreast of current trends in his community and teaches at Austin Peay State University. Ken's approach to counseling is to foster a relationship based on mutual trust and respect grounded in a warm, unconditional, positive regard for his clients. Each person in the therapeutic relationship is encouraged to be who they actually are with a goal of understanding and implementing desired change. Oriented towards finding solutions, Ken believes that clients are experts in their own lives, and often themselves hold the keys to finding the change they desire. Skilled in asking the right questions and providing candid feedback to clients, positive change is achieved with brief therapy. Ken's practice serves individuals, couples and families. Private pay and most major health plans are welcome. Ken has specialized training in treating addictions, anxiety disorders to include PTSD, crisis intervention, marital issues, domestic abuse and personality disorders. He is adept at several cognitive behavioral therapies and solution focused brief therapy. Ken's abilities as a clinician are recognized by the Academy of Certified Social Workers, a national credential of excellence.
