How sad. We purchased a bird bath (blown glass/kind of Chihuly-looking thing) in early April. It was a birthday gift for our daughter; she waited a couple of weeks to put it up because of the cold weather. In the interim, we of course lost the receipt. When she did put it up, it broke (perhaps poor glue holding the glass to the metal bracket). We explained that we did purchase it at Bonnies. We were told that because we had no receipt we could not prove that we purchased it there as there "are many other people (stores?) that sell it." I explained that this made it sound as though we were not being believed. How sad. I'm afraid this will become one more reason why I buy online and not local; refunds are a snap online. Please local merchants, don't lament that we're going online when this is the sort of explanation you give your customers who lost their receipt.
