Just had dinner on Saturday night, the place was full but my husband and I went to the bar! We were offered drinks very quickly by a lovely girl named Deanna i think! The owner greeted us apologized for the lack of available tables. We decided to stay at the bar. I ordered the butternut squash chicken which was fantastic and my husband ordered the spicy Mac and cheese!, which he loved. We had heard mixed reviews but we had a great night. Half of the staff smiled at us or said something!! We will be back...can't wait to try some other things on the menu!!

Love the bartenders, Kary and Deanna rock! They always entertain us, help us pick out food, and give us beer samples. They are very personable and always having fun. The bar is definitely the place to sit!

We sit at the bar when Deanna and Kary are working- hands down they are the best bartenders! Never a full moment! The food is delicious! We love it there!

I, too, have suspected for some time that bad reviews of good restaurants are posted by competitors. Tonight was the first time we've been there since it's become the Lakes Grille, and we had an excellent dining experience. Experienced, attentive & cheerful wait staff; great food, service and selection; nice ambiance and decent prices. We're not easy to impress, but we enjoyed this dinner from start to finish... and I guarantee we'll be back. Clarkston, MI seems to have become a hotbed of great cuisine... and the Lakes Grille is another welcome addition.

Took the entire family to Lakes Grile (6 adults and 4 kids)! Vast improvement over Red Knapps. The service was good, although the food could have come out a bit faster due to having the kids there (but not bad). The menu selection and specials were really good. prices seems to range between $9-$40. Everyone had something different ranging from soup and salad, sandwiches, wraps, chicken and pasta. All enjoyed. The kids chicken fingers were also delicious real chicken tenders. yes there were al-a-cart items but something for everyone. Keep in mind that the quality of food seems way better than red knapps menu so that does reflect the price. Its a better restaurant!

Although we didn't sit at the bar this time, i will deffinately go back as the bar area did look inviting.

It's great to have another nice restaurant in town as an option that is not a chain, greasy spoon, or coney (which are good when you want that)

My friend and I sat at the bar this weekend and had such a wonderful experience I wanted to share. First, the bartenders were very pleasant, and helpful. They let us sample several beers since we were unfamiliar with many of the brands- which are mostly Michigan and micro brewed beers. I enjoyed the German beer that's hard to pronounce- hef something. They recommended the crab cakes- and they were delicious! We will order them every time we come! I had the cowboy burger, and my friend had the fish and chips. We really enjoyed our selections- and there were so many more things we wanted to try. We liked everything about this place, the service was great, the food was delicious, and the variety of beers was outstanding. We are looking forward visiting again!

I hosted a bridal shower on 4-25-10 and the experience was awesome. The food and staff were great!! Shane, the general manager and Kelly, the waitress were very attentive. Several of the people attending remarked on how great it was!!! Would definitely book another event there.

Red Knapps offers the best burger anywhere! The atmosphere is relaxing and the service is great! It's not your typical burger joint!

Red Knapp's has the VERY BEST Planked White Fish that I have ever tasted! The atmosphere is wonderful along with the courteous staff. From the moment you walk into the door until the time you leave....you receive a totally explicable experience. You WONT be disappointed....give them a try!
