Provided by DexKnowsMy fiance and I opened an account with Sterling Bank approx. 3 weeks ago. We had decided to switch to Sterling for a few different reasons, but the one that applies in this particular case is this: "all deposits made through the ATM will be processed the next business day." Our last bank was notorious for keeping cash deposits for up to a week, and so we were particularly interested in this feature.Last night my fiance and I went to the Sunnyside Branch of Sterling Bank and deposited monies in cash. The sign on the ATM assured us, yet again, that the money would be available on the next business day. Fast forward to today at 3PM. No monies.We call the bank and are informed that the money will not be available until MONDAY at the earliest! Why, you ask? Oh, because even cash deposits are processed as though they were check deposits, apparently.I ask to speak to the manager, and get the Assistant Manager, Robin. She condescendingly informs me that "the atm DOES say the next business day." "...yes. And today is the next business day. I'm confused."She then informs me that my money might be available tomorrow, even though it's not a business day, because of X, Y, and Z. "Look, I don't care if it's available tomorrow, or Monday. I was informed that it would be the next business day, which is today. Why is it being processed tomorrow or Monday?""Well the ATM does say the next business day, if you had stopped to read the sign, and since it's a teller all on it's own...""....what does the sign say? Does it say 'next business day', or does it say 'day after the next business day'?"At this point she got even MORE rude, which I didn't think was possible, and long story short we will be closing that account as soon as we can get into a branch. The customer service was abysmal, and the fact that I was LIED to when I opened my account, topped by the fact that a bank will hold CASH MONIES that I gave them for "processing" is ridiculous. If anyone asks about this bank, I will MAKE SURE that they know exactly what sort of customer service they offer.
