- Criminal DefenseFDSDI provides training programs for local criminal defense practitioners on all aspects of federal trial practice and federal substantive law throughout the year. These programs are free-of-charge and FDSDI is an approved provider of Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) credits. Many program participants belong to the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel, which consists of attorneys in private practice who are appointed to accept federal criminal cases in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
- Sex CrimesUnited States v. Payne, 739 F. App’x 468 (9th Cir. 2018). The Court remanded Mr. Payne’s case for the district court (1) to clarify that the supervised release condition restricting access to the internet is aimed only at devices having the capacity to access child pornography and (2) to strike the family responsibilities condition.

- Drug CrimesTimothy Garrison is a Trial Team Leader at Federal Defenders of San Diego, Inc. Since joining Federal Defenders in 2005, he has been defending people charged with offenses related to drug trafficking, immigration, firearms and various other federal crimes. Mr. Garrison received his undergraduate degrees in History and English, as well as his J.D. from the University of San Diego.

- ForgeryThe Federal Defenders of San Diego, Inc., (FDSDI) has an opening for an Investigator position in our San Diego office. FDSDI is the Community Defender Organization for the Southern District of California (San Diego and Imperial Counties). FDSDI operates under authority of 18 U.S.C. § 3006A(g)(2)(B), to provide federal criminal defense services by court appointment to individuals unable to afford counsel. FDSDI is a private, non-profit corporation and not civil service or federal employers. A large part of the case load involves immigration related offenses, drugs, fraud, bank robbery, forgery, and internet related crimes.
