- Dental ExaminationAdults over the age of 35 lose more teeth to gum diseases than from cavities. At least three out of four adults are affected at some time in their life. The best way to prevent cavities and periodontal diseases is by daily thorough tooth brushing and flossing techniques and regular professional examinations and cleanings. Unfortunately, even with the most diligent home dental care, people can still develop some form of periodontal disease. Once this disease starts, professional intervention is necessary to prevent its progress.
- Teeth CleaningA dental prophylaxis is a cleaning treatment performed to thoroughly clean the teeth and gums. Prophylaxis is an important dental treatment for stopping the progression of gingivitis and periodontal disease.
- CrownsConventional crown lengthening may be required when your tooth needs a new crown or other restoration. The edge of that restoration is deep below the gum tissue and not immediately accessible. It is also usually too close to the bone or below the bone.
- BridgesBone grafting following tooth loss can preserve the ridge and minimize gum and bone collapse. There is less shrinkage and a more aesthetic tooth replacement for either an implant crown or fixed bridge around the replacement teeth can be achieved.

- Restorative DentistryDoctor Beatrice Criveanu attended North Carolina State University where she received a Bachelors of Science degree in Microbiology, and a Bachelors of Science degree in Nutrition. Dr Criveanu decided to pursue a career in dentistry and attended Loma Linda University, School of Dentistry. - Periodontal SurgeryThank you for visiting our website. We hope that our site will give you useful information on the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease, as well as cosmetic periodontal surgery and implants. If you have any further questions, call us at (530) 809-2379.
- DenturesFor the first three to six months following the surgery, dental implants are beneath the surface of the gums gradually bonding with the jawbone. You should be able to wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet at this time.
- Dental ImplantsIf you lose one or more teeth due to periodontal disease, or another cause, there is hope. Dental implants are changing the way people live! They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Patients with dental implants can smile with confidence.
- Oral Surgery
- Osseous SurgeryOsseous surgery is used to reshape deformities and remove pockets in the alveolar bone surrounding the teeth. It is a common necessity in effective treatment of more advanced periodontal diseases. The ultimate goal of osseous surgery is to reduce or eliminate the periodontal pockets that cause periodontal disease. Despite the word “surgery” the procedure is reported to feel more like a thorough cleaning.
- Tooth Extractions
- Bone GraftingA local anesthetic will be used to numb the area prior to surgery. First, Dr. Criveanu will gently separate around each tooth of the affected area to release the gum tissue from the bone. This allows proper access to the bone and roots of the teeth. After the roots have been thoroughly cleaned, the alveolar bone will be reshaped to allow for a physiologic architecture, but at a lower level. Bone grafting may also be necessary to fill in large defects.
- Cosmetic DentistryCosmetic periodontal procedures are a conventional way to cover unsightly, sensitive, or exposed root surfaces and to prevent future gum recession. If you are unhappy with the appearance of short, unsightly teeth this can be greatly improved by a combination of periodontal procedures by Dr. Criveanu and cosmetic dentistry by your dentist.
