Sundberg Company was founded in 1912 by Charles E. Sundberg. When the company first came into existence, it was an appliance dealership that sold door-to-door brands such as Apex, Thor, and Easy, to name a few. At that time, there were about 50 U.S. appliance manufacturers; today there are four. As homes became wired for electricity, electric motor operated appliances came into prominence. The C.E. Sundberg Company increased its product line offerings to meet its customers growing needs. By 1921, the C.E. Sundberg Company had grown to a chain of 13 retail stores in the Chicagoland area. During the Depression, the complexion of the Company began to change. With the scarcity of money, new appliance sales became less important, while service on existing appliances became increasingly imperative. As a result, Sundberg expanded service to include all makes of washers, dryers, ironers, refrigerators, oil burners and coal stokers. In 1941, Sundberg successfully launched its appliance heating and air conditioning offerings, which we continue to offer to our customers today. We are proud of the rich history at Sundberg over the last century. As we look forward, Sundberg will be there, arming repairmen and women across the country with the best inventory and expertise surpassed only by our customer service and support staff. Proof that, for the next hundred years and beyond, we have every part in place.
