Phillip LoSavio, MD, MS, serves as the Section Head of Sleep Surgery in the department. He is the Residency Program Director of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and an Associate Professor in Rush Medical College. He also serves as the Assistant Dean of Graduate Medical Education at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. LoSavio is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. Dr. LoSavio has co-authored many publications and book chapters. He was the senior author on a sentinel publication on tracheostomy care among the most read that year in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is a reviewer of multiple scientific journals including the Annals of Otology, Rhinology and Laryngology, Laryngoscope and Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. His academic distinctions include the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Honor Award, Top Doctors of Illinois, and the Award for Teaching Excellence in the Rush Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He won the Rush Medical Staff Prize for Clinical Excellence given to the top graduating medical student at Rush Medical College and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. LoSavio is passionate about medical education. He is proud to be part of a team that provides advanced surgical therapies to patients with sleep apnea unable to be treated by more conventional techniques such as CPAP. “Knowing I will have an impact on generations of patients to come through the people I train gives me a great sense of professional and personal satisfaction.
