I recently bought a new Doyle Genoa. I sailed it over three years in the BVI, for a total of about 12 months in all on the water and in use about 3 days per week during that time. I sent it back to Doyle to be repaired for a small tear near the leach. I expected to pay for the repair, despite Doyle's 5 yr/50000 mile guarantee. The small rip was about two inches long, but it was my fault, after all. Instead of the little repair I'd asked for, the loft renewed the whole leach, charged me $300, and said the guarantee didn't apply since the deterioration was caused by Ultra Violet deterioration. So much for the vaunted Doyle Guarantee !!! If they don't expect UV deterioration in the Caribbean, what DO they cover in their 5 YR/50,000 MILE Guarantee. I'm going back to my old sailmakers. They don't make the same wonderful guarantee, but they don't make specious excuses either.
