Classified Ventures is a strategic joint venture that is 100 percent owned and funded by six large media partners, with the objective to collectively capitalize on the revenue growth in the online classified advertising categories of automotive, apartments and real estate. The partners are Belo Corporation, Gannett Company, Knight Ridder, The McClatchy Company, Tribune Company and The Washington Post Company. To execute its objectives, the company has three online businesses apartments.com, cars.com and HomeGain.com. Classified Ventures also builds real estate-related business software products for its partners through its Homescape division. In addition to the national Web sites, apartments.com and cars.com are also carried by the partner's local affiliate network of more than 170 online newspaper and television web sites. Classified Ventures is headquartered in Chicago.
