Carefully consider other options before hiring this company. We purchased a new home and they were the contractors for the heating and cooling system, which included a humidifier. The home was obviously very dry that winter, so we checked the system. Sure enough, not hooked up. Guy came out, didn't have what he needed to fix it so we had to wait a few days. Another guy came out, the first guy ordered the wrong size parts. Another few days. A couple months go by, the overflow starts showing water. They come out. The regular drain was plugged. Now we're into the next winter. Again the house is dry. Now the regular drain shows constant flow. Hmmm... could be the humidifier is STILL not hooked up correctly? Fortunately, we're now using another company as our contracted year is up. These are BASICS for this kind of installation, so there is no acceptable excuse, especially the "we don't install many of these" I heard.

We put out bids on hvac equipment for our house and Smith and Keene out bid all and with the best equipment Lennox Signature, when installing the equipment they were very professional and answered all of our questions and finished the job when they said they would, now days that is a plus, We are going to tell our friends how satisfied We are and definetely if We need service, We know who We are going to call Smith and Keene from Chesapeake, Va 23320 thank you guys, very much, TG from Virginia Beach, Va

I just had a whole new heat pump and air handler installed by Smith & Keene and am thrilled with the work they did. Their employees were extremely polite and did the work in a timely fashion. After the work was complete the salesman came out to make sure I was happy with the job and that everything was done to my satisfaction. I will use them again and will be recommending them to my friends in the future!

Thru all these years, from the Service Dept to Repair, I have always been treated with courtesy and help. Keep it up! You are the best in the area!

This winter my heating system failed. I called Smith and Keene and they came out and had me up and running the same day. Prices were in line with past work performed by other contractors. Very good company. Very good service.

the fact is there are people who will work for a case of beer but be carefule cause they may just be drunk when they do the work!!!!

This company has many skilled employees who know their jobs well. It also has many who are just working a job. I worked there a few years back and they definatly go by the old school way of running a business. By that I mean they expect a lot but give little in return. They've stayed in business buy getting into electrical work decades ago and growing larger all the time. NOT by treating the employees well. Having said that, they can get a good job done but that often depends on who is on the job. Expensive compared to other companies as well. I'd check around with some other contractors before settling with Smith and Keene. The biggest isn'y always the best.

I have just purchased my home in the chesapeake area and see the Smith & Keene Trucks everywhere! the 2nd week in my house water was leaking everywhere from my indoor unit. I decided to call them because I knew they were a big company and some of my family told me they will get the job done! I had a tech out the next day (after the Sweet Lady named Lisa told me to shut off my unit untill they could get there) Next day is pretty quick to me, it was Cold and I was told "no Heat" calls were top priority! anyway, it was just someting simple but Albert the Tech was so nice and professional and I would recomend them to anyone! Thanks again Smith & Keene!

I called to have them come and replace a switch, already knowing the problem. They told me the fastest they could get there would be three days later? Do they not have enough service trucks and technicians to service the community? A company that can not service me, is certainly not getting my business next spring when we have planned to change our our Heating & A/C central system. They need restructuring. These since 19.. whatever companies are run by old business people that do not understand Supply & Demand, and refuse to change and grow to meet that demand. They just lost a service call, terrible business.

We've been using smith and keene for 10 years for maintenance and recently had them install a complete new heat/ac system for my elderly parent's house. This was end-to-end including removing and replacing all ductwork, air handler, heat exchanger. They were not the cheapest bidder but I couldn't chance having poor work on a complex job. My expectations were exceeded by all of there staff. They did an excellent job with top quality work, expert trades skills, and great people. They brought in the right people at the right time for a flawless installation. They arrived early and stayed on the job with a clear working leader in charge throughout the installation. I give them the top possible rating.

We have used this company for over 30 years and always recieved a fair and competive price.I know they have been in business for over 60 years.We never look for the cheapest price (thats when you really get stung because you have no waranty off the internet after the parts installed).Sounds like the Smith and Keene people did the right thing and refused to work on a old worn out piece of equipment and gave them a new unit price.....they will always have our business.

Poor reputation. Over pricing for parts, service, and labor. They wanted $1900.00 to install a part that only cost me $43.00 to buy on line. Then I had some one else put it in for only $27.00 labor. Smith & Keene are shady con artists. They are a ripping off the consumer just to make more money. Stay away from them at all costs!!!!! I rate them a negative 5 stars!!!!!
