General Info
Most people have participated in a cause marketing campaign. It’s a simple concept that makes us feel good when we are buying something we need anyway. You know how it works, right? You buy a product with the promise that a portion of the purchase price will be donated to a worthy cause. For me, I always buy the soap that helps wash off the baby animals after an oil spill – those commercials have be teary every time. I also ALWAYS buy the limited-edition* Mary Kay® Beauty That Counts® products. One for me, 5 for friends! Mary Kay has a rich history of giving back that stems from our founder, Mary Kay Ash. But our corporate giving programs took a more formal shape in 2008 and 2009. That’s when we launched Beauty That Counts®, our global cause marketing program that unites more than 35 countries behind a common goal – enriching the lives of women and children. This program brings together our 3.5 million independent sales force members to work together to give back in their local community. I love Mary Kay products – specifically lip gloss. So this year’s Beauty That Counts® product gives me some added excitement. Mary Kay will donate $1 towards its efforts to end domestic violence with every limited-edition* Beauty That Counts® NouriShine Plus® Lip Gloss purchase. And this year there are 2 fun shades – Create Change and In Harmony. The Mary Kay Foundation will put those dollars to work as part of its shelter grant program. If you have ever been to a domestic violence shelter, you know that supporting these organizations is so important. Emergency services, counseling, protective orders, transitional housing – women’s shelters do it all. And every dollar counts for the 1 in 4 women who will experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
