Established in 1965, Lifecore Biomedical is engaged in the development, manufacturing and marketing of specialty medical products in the areas of ophthalmology and orthopedics. It has achieved ISO 13485 certification. The company has developed Lurocoat, which is used in ophthalmic surgical procedures of the anterior segment, including cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation. It additionally provides Ortholure, which is an orthopedic viscosupplement used to reduce pain caused due to degenerative and traumatic changes. The company also manufactures dental implant systems and tissue regeneration products, as well as medical-grade hyaluronan biopolymers and mixtures that are used in regenerative applications for the treatment of arthritis and opthalmic disorders. Its manufacturing procedures comply with the standards and regulations of the Food and Drug Administration. Lifecore Biomedical has operations in Italy, Germany and Sweden.
