we have been searching for reliable chinese takeout in c'ville, and after a few ho-hum meals and a couple inedible disasters, we tried Red Lantern -- and we hit pay dirt!

We ordered for 8 people and got all kinds of dishes and no one was disappointed: egg rolls, soups, bbq ribs, rice & noodle dishes, etc. Everything was tasty. We did take out and the restaurant is not that pleasant looking, it's small and I gather the majority of their business is takeout. They had a friendly woman answer the phone to take my order and it was ready in 20 mins. Reasonably priced too!

Looking for really good food at a very reasonable price? This is where to go, we had some company drop in and ran out to get several main dishes for dinner to set out and share. Everyone loved the Pork Fried Rice, Hunan Beef, Twice Cooked Pork, Szechuan Chicken and Steamed Dumplings. Ready quick and really nice large size servings. Love this place!

My husband and I went almost a full year last year never finding a great delivery/takeout Chinese restaurant in our former town so when we moved to Charlottesville we were excited about having a new city to try and find a place.

The Red Lantern did not disappoint - my husband and I ordered for lunch on a Sunday some lunch specials and appetizers and everything was absolutely delicious. I liked that we could choose what kind of rice to have with the combo (not just white rice - brown or fried as well!) and soup or an egg roll for a great price. We also tried the rangoons which were fine, not amazing, but the steamed dumplings were awesome!

We'll definitely be saving this as a good takeout option. We ordered delivery through Seamless and it worked great for us!

Chinese delivery...yes please! My husband LOVES good Chinese food and well he has a couple favorites in town red lantern delivers and has now become our #1 place. The vegetarian options are delicious and we usually are the pain in the ass customers that ask for something that's not really on the menu. The chefs always do a great job and the quick delivery can't be beat.
