Founded in 1966, Buford Middle School serves students in grades seven and eight. The school provides classes in English, social studies, math and science. It offers special education programs for children with learning disabilities. The school provides participation in several sports activities, such as basketball, volleyball and football. Buford Middle School also offers programs in Spanish, art, orchestra and vocal music. The school provides health care and lunch services. It administers the English as a Second Language Program. The school has a library that offers access to a variety of books and reading materials. It operates a parent-teacher organization that conducts fundraising events. Buford Middle School is a part of Charlottesville City Schools.
