  Ms. Shapiro is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and Florida and is a member of the Florida State Bar, North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association and Mecklenburg County Bar Association. Prior to joining Bernhardt & Strawser, Ms. Shapiro practiced criminal law and civil law for nine years where she was first chair of over 30 jury and non-jury trials.

  Debt Collection is the core of our practice.  The firm has experience in pursuing past due invoices on behalf of nearly every creditor imaginable.  In addition to representing many of the largest national and regional financial institutions, Bernhardt and Strawser regularly represents manufacturers and distributors, construction companies, and providers of professional services.  The firm is fully compliant with all Fair Debt laws, and provides bank-level security on all of its files.  Though capable of handling high-volume accounts efficiently, the firm differentiates itself by its willingness and capability to handle not just simple cases, but take more complicated issues to trial and beyond.
