My neighbor went with me to pick up the truck and we looked it over before going in. The covers on the mirrors were loose, missing their screws, the drip rail had not been painted, the left rear fender and the doors were not painted below the moulding, the right fender was not painted on the bottom edge. He insisted that I pay an additional $355 above the original quote including the $200 for painting both door panels completely. The door panels were only painted to the moulding, not completely.I handed him my check after agreeing to take $80 off of the $1,880 tab. He ushered my neighbor & I out of his office, locking the door to go cash the check before he would hand over the key.I?ve since found that the panel painted on the roof above the door was not blended in, leaving a sharp edge, interior door panels were missing all but 4 of their 14 clips & all the screws leaving them to rattle badly, and both door seals allowed air and noise to pass freely.

I took my pickup to Custom Paint & Body at 3030 South Tryon St. to have some paint replaced where it had flaked off including the drip rail around the cab, replace the rubber around the windows, replace some missing moulding on the left rear fender and fix the shallow dent on the right rear fender. His estimate was quite extensive and had a number of things that I questioned such as an item for having to remove the window glass to replace the rubber seal. I struck the items for removing the front and rear bumpers and took them off myself before delivering the truck. I also struck the $100 charge per door to paint the complete door rather than blend the refinishing of the flaked areas into the existing paint.I visited while the work was in progress and the window seals were out and the glass still in place as I had said. When I picked up the truck He insisted on leaving this glass removal charge on the bill. (more to come)
