Carolinas is one of the largest health care systems in the Carolinas and one of the largest publicly owned systems in the United States. Carolinas owns, leases and manages hospitals, nursing homes, physician practices, home health agencies, radiation therapy facilities, physical therapy facilities, managed-care companies and other health care-related operations. Its managed facilities represent more than 4,300 licensed beds. It also operates Carolinas HealthCare Foundation, which focuses its philanthropic efforts on fundraising efforts that enhance wellness, medical education, research and the health care delivery system.
