J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works produces hand-harvested salt from a trapped ancient sea, deep under the Appalachian Mountains. We offer free tours and experiential tours (harvest your own salt). Our tours include the history of the salt industry in the Kanawha Valley as well as a walk through our current solar powered process. The tour ends with a taste of our unique salt and a chance to purchase products. We partner with Appalachian artisans to make salt cellars, dishes and scoops. Our shop contains a wide variety of local products. We are located on our family farm, where salt was made for 150 years, from 1817 to 1945.J.Q.
