Founded in 1966, the FPG Child Development Institute is one of the nation's largest multidisciplinary centers for studying young children and their families. It has a work force of more than 200 researchers who work on projects dealing with parent and family support; early care and education; equity, access and inclusion; child health and development and early childhood policy. The institution specializes in anthropology, epidemiology, nursing, occupational therapy, pediatrics, psychiatry and public health. It is affiliated with the National Institutes of Health and US Department of Health and Human Services. The FPG Child Development Institute also creates reports, videos, magazines, booklets and podcasts on a range of topics for parents and policy makers. It additionally provides technical assistance on child care, personnel preparation, parent leadership and transitions. The FPG Child Development Institute is located in Chapel Hills, N.C.
