The Self-Help Center provides information and referrals and assists in the development and maintenance of support groups. It offers assistance in developing and organizing new groups and maintaining existing groups. The center provides information on self-help and serves Champaign County and surrounding east-central Illinois communities. The Self-Help Center maintains a regularly updated database of support groups and online catalogs of self-help groups. It also offers a variety of consulting services to assist individuals. The center provides information regarding mental health, parenting, addictions, bereavements, disabilities, diseases, sexual orientation, and physical and emotional abuse. The Self-Help Center has received the Mowrer Award and is a member of the United Way of Champaign County. It is a part of the Family Service of Champaign County, which is a private, nongovernment, nonprofit organization that serves families and individuals.
