Founded in 1869, the Public Opinion daily newspaper serves Chambersburg, Penn., and surrounding communities. The company is a subsidiary of Gannett Company. Gannett publishes more than 85 daily newspapers and more than 900 non-daily publications. The company operates Web sites that offer news and advertising customized to each market served by its publications. In addition, the company operates newspapers in the United Kingdom under the name Newsquest.
