- Residential Roof RepairFounded in 1989, Roofing Resources, Inc. (RRI) is a Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) specializing in water infiltration mitigation through professional services and construction for the roof and building enclosure.
- Residential Roof Replacement/InstallationRRI completed a design/build roof replacement project on Building 8030 at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The roof size was approximately 200,000 square feet, and the scope included the complete removal of the existing roof system and the installation of a new insulated built-up roof system with gravel surfacing. RRI began the project by producing a design package including project specific specifications and construction drawings. RRI then managed and oversaw the construction on this large project and implemented USACE quality control measures throughout construction to ensure the project was completed to the design and manufacturer’s standards.
- Residential Roof Inspection
- InsulationRRI was contracted by the District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) to complete a roof condition assessment and an infrared survey of 16 buildings that make up the Langston Terrace Community in Northwest Washington, DC. Langston Terrace is a public housing community constructed in the late 1930s, and is one of the first federally funded housing communities and the first in Washington, DC. RRI accessed the roofs to visually evaluate the existing roof conditions, extract roof cores to understand the existing roof construction, and survey the roofs with infrared cameras to identify areas of wet insulation. RRI developed a written report with roof plans for each building to outline our findings and recommendations. RRI presented recommendations and budgets for DCHA to consider and evaluate for decision making purposes. RRI also researched the feasibility of installing a photovoltaic (PV) system on the roof surface, as DCHA desires to use the rooftop space to provide solar renewable energy for the buildings. Based on RRI’s information, DCHA is in the process of having RRI develop roof replacement design packages for Langston Terrace buildings under a separate contract.
- MasonryRRI performed a roof assessment and infrared scan of the Lindley Academy Charter School (LACS) to identify the existing roof conditions and assist LACS with determining the proper approach for improving its roofs. The school had been dealing with ongoing water infiltration issues, and needed to determine whether a roof repair or replacement was necessary. RRI visually reviewed the existing roof conditions, and utilized drone technology to perform the infrared scan due to the various roof levels and sections. RRI provided a written report of our findings to LACS, and it was determined that a roof replacement was necessary. RRI was then tasked with developing a roof replacement design, which included the project specifications and construction drawings. RRI selected a new modified built-up roof system over new insulation and a cover board. Miscellaneous masonry work was required, including the design of through-wall counterflashing in various locations to prevent water infiltration into the new roof system. RRI assisted with the bid process and pre-construction activities, including RFI review/response and submittal review/approval. RRI also visited the project several times during construction to monitor progress, including a final inspection.
