- Dental SealantsSealants are resin coatings placed on the chewing surfaces and deep grooves of the back teeth for cavity prevention. Without a sealant, the small grooves and pits very often develop cavities as toothbrushes are ineffective in removing all of the food and germs that get trapped there.
- Fillings
- VeneersVeneers are porcelain restorations that cover the front of your treated teeth while leaving the back of the tooth untouched.  The veneer procedure involves shaping your teeth by removing enough tooth structure to allow clearance for the new porcelain restorations. The final veneer is bonded to your natural tooth with specially formulated cements.
- CrownsNitrous oxide (N2O) mixed with oxygen (O2) is a commonly used dental sedative that produces a giddiness or euphoria, hence the name “laughing gas.” Nitrous oxide, a sweet smelling gas, is a compound of nitrogen and oxygen and is inhaled through a nasal mask. It is a “conscious sedation”. You are capable of rational responses and able to communicate. Its effects are gone within a minute or two following treatment. Nitrous oxide is often used along with local anesthetics during dental treatments such as placement of fillings, crown or bridge work. It can be especially helpful for controlling a gag reflex.
- BridgesA dental bridge (also known as a bridge) is 3 or more connected crowns that use the teeth adjacent to a missing tooth space as anchors. The anchor teeth will receive crowns and a substructure connects them to a pontic (fake tooth) that resembles other teeth in the arch.
- Root Canal TreatmentA root canal treatment (or root canal) is a dental procedure that saves and preserves a sick tooth. The procedure includes...
- Deep CleaningEarly periodontal disease must be aggressively treated in order to see improvement. Treatment includes complete removal of plaque and tartar above and below the gum line, a procedure called scaling and root planning (also called deep cleaning). An anti-infective oral rinse, chlorhexidine gluconate, is also used for 4 weeks to combat this infection. Regular and thorough home care must also be practiced including brushing with a soft bristle brush and flossing. Regular home care will be combined with periodontal dental cleanings (usually every 3 months) and a stannous fluoride rinse to maintain healthy gums. When caught early and treated, the damage caused by periodontal disease can be reversed and the treatment less expensive. Periodontal disease in more advanced stages must be treated by a specialist called a periodontist.
- DenturesTraditional denture (also known as false teeth) is a restoration constructed to replace missing teeth that is supported by surrounding soft (gums) and hard tissues (jaw bone) in your mouth. This type of denture is removable by the patient. It should be noted that when a tooth is removed and as we age, the bone that surrounded it begins to deteriorate. As this bone disappears, traditional dentures, as they rely on your bone and gums, will lose their support and often become ill-fitting or loose. Patient satisfaction with traditional dentures is often low for this reason.
- Dental ImplantsA flipper is a temporary space holder or temporary retainer, usually no more than a year, that replaces your missing tooth or teeth during the healing process after a dental implant is placed.
- Oral Surgery
- Gum SurgeryLasers for gum surgery have multiple benefits over using scalpels. A laser makes clean cuts causing less post-operative pain and shortened healing time. Overall, a laser cauterizes tissue as it goes which greatly reduces bleeding. The greatest benefit of lasers in gum surgery is that they also destroy bacteria in the surgical site providing better surgical results.
- Tooth ExtractionsDental extraction (tooth pulling) is performed when a tooth is too damaged to save due to fracture or cavity or when the long term prognosis of a tooth is poor even with extensive dental treatment.
- BracesThis is a very difficult question to answer. Some researchers say that if the occlusion (bite) of someone is not correct they will brux. Others say that it is a central nervous system disorder. Others say it is a multifaceted problem and that it is related to stress factors. Research has also been conducted that suggests that there is often a hormonal component to bruxism as well. We do know that incidences of bruxism increase due to stress and changes in your bite such as a new dental restoration(s), braces, trauma to the mouth or the loss of teeth.
- Teeth WhiteningBleaching trays are plastic retainers made using models of your teeth that hold whitening (bleach) gel. Each tray is custom-made to fit over the user’s upper and lower teeth “like a glove.† To perform treatments, the user places whitening gel in the trays and then seats them over their teeth according to the whitening gel manufacturer’s instructions.
