General Info
High Pointe Baptist Church had her beginnings in the hearts of several committed people who had a desire to see a Southern Baptist Church in the rapidly growing area of Dallas County that would serve to meet the needs of the community through the love and acceptance of Jesus Christ. In June of 1985, the Dallas Baptist Association purchased fifteen acres of land in the High Pointe development with the anticipated new church start in mind. In July of 1986, the church consisting of a small group from the First Baptist Church of Oak Cliff began to meet in the home of Steve and Elaine Maddox. The church called Dr. Toby Snowden to be her first full-time Pastor in February of 1988. Dr. Snowden continues as Pastor. "As we glorify God, make disciples", has been adopted by the church as her mission statement. As a practical way of working out her mission, High Pointe focuses on "Sharing Love, Training Leaders, and Glorifying God." The congregation and staff seek to fulfill this mission by organizing every ministry, program and activity around the five purposes of the church ( Worship, Discipleship, Fellowship, Stewardship and Membership ) found in the Great Commission and the Great Commandment. The Church moved from the Maddox's home to a "store-front" where the congregation worshipped until moving to her brand new facilities in 1991. The 10, 000-sq.ft., multipurpose building has served the church well and many milestones were reached during the decade of the nineties. In 2002, we added an additional 10, 000 square feet of education and worship space to better serve the needs of the community. Many people in the community have been reached with the love of Christ. The church has been recognized on more than one occasion for increased growth in new believers, baptisms and Bible study members. The church now has multiple full-time staff members and a well organized volunteer staff for meeting the needs of the community.
