Poor inter-office communication. consistent over charging, zero refunding, outrageous long distance Deposit.Fair internet DSL speed.'when operating'. no other service' land line available so your stuck.
Their Internet support has been very good (for me at least), but their landline support is terrible. I Live in LV and have a cabin on Cedar Mt. My family and friends in LV report that they can rarely get through to me when they call me on their cell phones, as the phone rings, but no one answers. Of course, on my end, the phone does not ring at all. (I'm currently waiting on an explanation from them) If they call me from a landline, the calls seem to always get thru. SC was charging me a $5.99 monthly fee for caller ID. Unfortunately, caller ID almost never worked. It displayed nonsense #'s from all over creation. When I asked their crack tech support folks about this, they said they were at the mercy of whatever "cell tower server" the calls came in from. Apparently, this is also why cell calls don't get thru. When I called to complain, they admitted this is a known problem, and told me they have the same issue on THEIR home phones. Avoid any business with South Central Communications, because they advertise, sell, and bill for DSL and other services that they KNOW they are incapable of providing. In Torrey, Utah, they sell DSL at speeds above 512 kbps. The fastest you can actually get is about 70kbps...barely better than dial-up. Dozens of calls to their service reps, and numerous visits by their technicians, have had zero effect. They routinely disconnect phone calls while transferring me to supervisors. In my personal opinion, they need to refund the money they have fraudulently bilked from customers for services they have no intention of upgrading or providing. The short version is that they have no intention of improving their transmission capability in this region, but are happy to bill unsuspecting customers who aren't savvy enough to do speed tests. Complaints get nothing but the run-around, and their execs are fortified against any public contact. They badly need competition - or a class action lawsuit.
