Scott David Singer, ISA, has owned and operated Singer Antique Galleries, LTD., a highly successful and high-end antique and appraisal business on the top of Queen Anne Hill, since August of 1981. His 30+ years of experience buying, selling, and appraising antiques have given him a profound understanding of the marketplace both locally and internationally. Included among Scott’s extensive client list are buyers from all across the US and worldwide including China, Japan, Russia, Australia, and the UK. Prior to opening Singer Antique Galleries, LTD., Scott managed two antique stores, Mariko Tada, Inc. and The Carriage House Galleries. This gave him several years of valuable experience in antiques and works of art preparing him for his own business. Scott’s degrees from Arizona State University include: a B.A. in Art History, studying European and Baroque painting under Donald A. Rabiner, Ph.D., Chinese and Japanese painting under Ju Shi Chou, Ph.D., and Chinese ceramics under Claudia Brown, Ph.D.; a B.A. in Anthropology/Archeology; and minors in Business and Chinese Mandarin, which all help to round out his knowledge in antiques and art. As a tested member of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA) for over 30 years, Scott has attended many courses and lectures on the legalities and semantics associated with appraisals. Included in his ISA studies are courses focusing on damage claims and insurance loss. Scott has been a longstanding member of the ISA and is currently Treasurer of the Northwest Chapter. He is also a member of the Chinese Ceramics Society of London and the Textile Society of Hong Kong. In 2012 Scott successfully completed his five-year requalification courses and Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP) courses offered by the ISA. At the same time he attended the annual Appraiser’s Convention in Phoenix, AR where he was able to take several current seminars relating to appraising personal property and to gain invaluable connections with other experts across the US. Scott's experience in appraisal work includes clients such as PEMCO Insurance Company, SAFECO Insurance Company, U.P.S., Legal Assistants of Washington, and several local attorneys. He also has extensive experience appraising for damage claims, IRS donation and estate tax.
