- SinusitisThere are two types of sinus infections: acute and chronic. Acute sinusitis can last up to four weeks, while chronic sinusitis lasts more than four weeks and may occur more than four times a year. Chronic sinusitis should be evaluated by a physician, because it can be caused by severe allergies, nasal tumors or even respiratory tract infections. Some people may even have structural problems with their sinuses which can lead to chronic infections.

- Family PracticeThough my path was longer than some, I would not change any of it. I believe the things I learned molded me into the physician I am today. I chose to specialize in family medicine because I like taking care of people. I also specialize in sports medicine, which is an equally rewarding challenge.
- Emergency CareAnaphylaxis is a severe, life-threatening condition that can occur within minutes after exposure to the allergen. During anaphylaxis, the airways narrow, making it difficult to breathe. Other symptoms may include hives, a weak and rapid pulse, dizziness, fainting or vomiting. Anaphylaxis requires immediate, emergency medical attention. Symptoms may improve after a shot of epinephrine, and sometimes the person having the anaphylaxis reaction will carry an auto injector such as EpiPen. However, even if symptoms improve after administering epinephrine, it is still necessary to visit the emergency department to ensure the symptoms will not return. (4, 5)
- ElectrocardiogramAn EKG, or electrocardiogram, is a painless test that records the heart’s electrical activity, or heart rhythm. They may also specialize in women’s health, substance abuse treatment, and mental health.

- UltrasoundCary Medical Group offers in-office ultrasound services. During an ultrasound, you will lie on a table, and a clear gel will be applied to the area being examined. This gel assists the transition of the sound waves. A handheld probe, called a transducer, will be moved over the area to be examined. This transducer sends high frequency sound waves through body tissue, and when the sound waves reflect off of structures such as organs or bones, it creates an image that is then interpreted by the physician.
- X-Rays
- Computed TomographyAn ultrasound utilizes high-frequency sound waves to create images that allow physicians and surgeons to examine organs and systems within a patient’s body. Unlike a CT scan or an X-ray, an ultrasound does not use radiation to obtain the images. An ultrasound may be used to evaluate breast lumps, evaluate the thyroid gland, check for gallbladder disease or even evaluate muscles and tendons.
