We had a great time visiting Virginia City and we were glad to have had the chance to stay at the Silver Queen. At check-in we were greeted by friendly smiling faces (Doreen and Karen are great.) The rooms are spotless and very cozy. We shared a room with my sister and her husband. We stayed in room 25 which had one queen bed and one double (adjoining rooms). The bathroom was off the room with the double bed. You had to enter the bathroom by going through the room with the double bed. My other sister stayed in room 24. All of us were in our room (25) visiting and then my sister and her partner decided to walk around the the hotel taking pictures. When she arrived back to her room (24) she immediately came in to our room asking if we had messed up her bed? She took us to her room and showed us that one of the pillows had been crumpled like someone had laid their head down on the pillow. We promised to her that we didn't touch it and we asked her if she was pulling our legs and she said

Walking in off the street you feel like you have just entered an old western movie. The bar is picture perfect with the huge mirror and old bar stools and the staff is so welcoming and friendly. There is no TV in the room, which is exactly perfect to complete your Virginia City experience, and the rooms have been beautifully preserved. The location is ideal for a walk around the town and the chili dogs at the bar, with AMAZING homemade chili, are delicious. There is a bakery next door which has fresh coffee and yummy pastries, I recommend buying the travel mug for free refills =) If you truly want an authentic old western town experience in Virgina City I would highly suggest this hotel.

The walls are a little thin but other than that this town in amazing! My boyfriend and I had a ghostly encounter at this hotel. We heard a voice in our room say "Oh my god, oh my god." We both looked at each other in amazement for the voice sounded as if it was right next to us. It is a great little bar downstairs and the wedding chapel is a must see.

This hotel is very unique. It was built in the 1800's and the only thing that appears to have been changed is that they have added bathrooms/showers to the rooms. Otherwise, it's as if you're going back in time and staying at an old west hotel. Roam in off the wood sidewalks of the city and into a true classic of a hotel. The rooms are very reasonably priced, and we had no problem getting one in the middle of June. The location is directly in the center of the city. Service was good, and check-in took about 30 seconds. Remember, though, this is a true 1800's hotel. No phones, no TV, no mini-bar. Highly recommended to help get a feel for this fun, historic city.

I visited Virginia City to do a little historical and family research. I went through the hotel a couple of times that day, taking pictures. Beautiful interior and a few orbs thrown in for good measure! Terry the bartender and housekeeper, was so accomodating and full of wonderful information. She even remembered me from the prior week! When I need to go back to VC (only from So. Lake Tahoe - 1 hour away) to do more extensive research, I've considered booking a room at the Silver Queen so that I can stay over night. All of this from a bartender being a very nice person!

We stayed here leaving another hotel that was outside of town. The location is the best bar-non, if you want to be in the middle of everything in town there really is only one place to stay and this is it. The management is friendly and ready to help you if you have a problem. When you go to Virginia City you want to feel like you have gone back in time and here you really do, and the ghosts greet you with a smile.
