Based in Carson, Calif., West Basin Municipal Water District provides drinking and recycled water to its 185-square mile service area. It imports water from the metropolitan water district of Southern California and wholesales the imported water to cities and private companies in southwest Los Angeles County. West Basin Municipal Water District specializes in the production of recycled water. It caters to a million people living within 17 cities in the south bay and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. West Basin Municipal Water District was the recipient of 2010 Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility award as well as 2009 Recycled Water Community Outreach/Education Program of the Year award.
