We moved our mom here over a year ago from Idaho and we couldn't be happier !!
They see to her every need. They give the residents so many opportunities to stay engaged with life and friends.
Excercise, tons of game days, puzzles going on galore, parties/happy hour all the time. And regularly scheduled outings to restaurants , park/picnics , casinos ,high tea you make it. The activities director, Mary, takes care of them all like family.
They are well fed and entertained! Not to mention friendly staff to get them to any appointments or shopping!!
You don't have to worry about their safety or happiness here!! It's a relief.
This is a Senior Independent Living community, meaning you are expected to be able to get around and take care of yourself and not require any assistance as in an Assisted Living community. My mom lived year for over a year and liked it although she did complain about the food. Included in the monthly price is lunch and dinner and you have to get your own breakfast. They also provide transportation for doctor/dentist visits etc. And make weekly runs to grocery stores and shopping. You do have to realize, however, that you have to wait for the other people in the bus with you so nothing can be done quickly. It's difficult to prepare meals that everyone will like and there will inevitably be repeats of meals you don't like. But if you want some companionship and planned activities, Winding Commons is nicer than some of them.
