General Info

Welcome Home Doula Services, Inc. is a nonprofit organization offering perinatal education and support to individuals and families through the implementation of community-based trainings, outreach, and affordable doula services in the greater Sacramento area and beyond. Through these measures, we hope to reduce health disparities among low-income and underserved populations, as well as diversify and strengthen the community of birth professionals in our region.

Though each of our doulas offers her unique experiences and support style, we all offer these services as a minimum: A free consultation interview 2-3+ prenatal visits in your home Birth Plan counseling Comfort technique practice On-call 24/7 support beginning 2 weeks before your estimated due date, and extending to two weeks after the birth of your baby Continuous labor and birth support from when you call in your doula until a few hours after delivery 2 postpartum visits (including a home-cooked meal!) OUR TRAINING: Our birth doulas attend their first three births through WHDS with another doula, learning hands-on skills and techniques. Our birth doulas also complete a training curriculum which includes the following topics: Anatomy and Physiology of the pregnant mother and baby Nutrition for Pregnancy Complications in Pregnancy and Labor Medical Interventions Comfort Measures for Pregnancy, Birth, and Postpartum Informed Consent, Advocacy, and Communication for Doulas Lactation Management Cultural Humility & Health Disparities Professionalism
