Busch s is a privately held, local independent supermarket chain and has a professional staff of more than 1,000 associates. Joe Busch and Charlie Mattis started the family venture in 1975 when they acquired two stores from Vescio s foods and named the chain J&C Family Foods. The company maintains grocery, produce, meat, deli, frozen, dairy, seafood, production, pharmacy and guest service departments. It offers a range of meat items, such as beef tenderloins, boneless pork, smoked ham, boneless chicken breasts and pork ribs. Busch s organizes cooking classes and provides catering services for various events and special occasions. Busch s is a Spartan wholesaler affiliate and maintains a location in Carleton, Mich.
