General Info
Children's Dental Health MonthChildren's Dental Health Month is observed nationally during the month of February. Canton Valley Dental participates in this event with local school visits, teaching children proper oral hygiene and nutrition.During this month we also participate in "Give Kids a Smile Day" by offering free dental care to children in need from the Farmington Valley community. "Give Kids a Smile Day" is held the first Friday in February every year.During the holidays, Canton Valley Dental donates unwrapped toys to the charity organization of our choice. Instead of trading holiday gifts with our fellow employees each employee donates non perishable food to the Canton Food Bank and unwrapped toys to an additional charity organization. We have donated to "Gifts of love" in Avon, The Connecticut Children's Medical Center and Gary Craig's "We are the Children" Christmas Party over the years.Sam Collins Day, a Canton Community business event, is celebrated each year on the third Saturday in September. This event is sponsored by the Canton Chamber of Commerce and showcases area businesses, community organizations and crafters. The WIDE OPEN Golf Tournament, now in its 28th year, was organized by Dr. Charles Keefe and Avon resident, Keith Blankenbicker, to benefit substance abuse programs for those at risk in the local schools. Two groups that have benefited are DARE, which gives children the skills needed to avoid involvement with drugs and alcohol and IMPACT, an organization that helps raise teenage safe driving awareness. Thanks to the generosity of the community, monies in excess of $180, 000 have been raised to support these programs. This event will be on the first Friday in October and is open to the public.
