Contrary to what the company name implies, Collimated Holes has nothing to do with actual holes. The company designs and manufactures fiber optic components, sub-assemblies and integrated imaging systems. CHI has no standard product. Instead, its team of engineers works with clients to create custom solutions. CHI manufactures its own fibers, providing two key benefits: tighter quality assurance and the ability to create custom glass combinations to address unique problems. The company manufactures prisms for the video projection industry, microlenses for medical and other types of imaging, as well as bulk glass plates for x-ray detection. CHI is skilled at bonding fiber optic plates to CCDs, sophisticated grinding and polishing, precision glass finishing and providing a variety of optical coatings, including dichroics. Established in 1975, Collimated Holes is located in Campbell, Calif.
