- ColonoscopyBowel preparation for colonoscopy is performed the evening before the procedure. This allows for total cleansing of the colon and clear visibility during the colonoscopy procedure. A clear bowel preparation ensures an accurate examination and best results. Each patient will be given specific instructions regarding a bowel preparation prescribed by his or her gastroenterologist. The lowest-volume, safest, and most effective preparation solutions will be utilized, based on your medical history.

- Labor and DeliveryCeliac disease can sometimes be triggered or become active for the first time after surgery, pregnancy, childbirth, viral infection or severe emotional stress. - GastroenterologyThe physicians of Pennsylvania Gastroenterology Consultants (PA GI) will maintain an ongoing record of all of your visits with documentation of your symptoms, physical examination, test results, diagnoses, and treatment plans. This information is your electronic health record (EHR). It serves as the basis for planning and communication of your care within PA GI and with other health professionals of your choice. Pennsylvania Gastroenterology Consultants and Digestive Disease Institute have been on the forefront of EHR use since 2005. We continue to advance the effectiveness of our EHR, consistent with the latest federal government recommendations for improving patient care and safety.

- UltrasoundRadial endoscopic ultrasound is a diagnostic technique that allows for detailed internal ultrasound evaluation of digestive structures. The esophagus, stomach, pancreas, and biliary system are evaluated by combining endoscopy and ultrasound. This is a sedated endoscopic procedure similar to upper endoscopy that is performed in the hospital outpatient setting.
- MRIThere is no one test to diagnose Crohn’s disease. A gastroenterologist will likely use a combination of tests to help confirm a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease. Blood tests for anemia or infection and fecal occult blood test may be used. A colonoscopy, CT scan, MRI, capsule endoscopy and balloon-assisted enteroscopy can also assist in the diagnosis of Crohn’s disease.
- Computed Tomography
- UlcerThe expert gastroenterologists at PA GI are trained to perform therapeutic endoscopy. Therapeutic interventions include: polyp removal, ulcer treatment, control of bleeding, stricture dilation, feeding tube placement, and biliary endoscopy. Most therapeutic interventions are completed at the time of your procedure and do not require additional procedures.
- Physical TherapyInitial treatment options include dietary or lifestyle changes; bowel retraining or other kinds of physical therapy or anti-diarrheal medications. More advanced treatment options include surgery or implanting Sacral Neuromodulation.
