The Department of Cambridge Development operates a community planning division that seeks to strengthen community life through zoning and land use, urban design, institutional and neighborhood planning, demographic and geographic analysis, development of parks and open space and graphic design. The department s economic development division works to promote commercial districts, sustain employment opportunities and promote the real estate market. The Department of Cambridge Development enforces zoning ordinances and code regulations. It supports the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program that acts as a conduit for federal funds and is responsible for managing and disbursement of federal allocation.
