Free-range barrels Dutch Henry Established in 1992, Dutch Henry Winery is a small family-owned and operated winery in Napa Valley. The Chafen family takes great pride in nurturing all aspects of their winery and vineyards. Less and Maggie Chafen have grown grapes in Napa Valley for over 26 years. Their son, Scott Chafen oversees the daily operations of Dutch Henry Winery Less is a Bay Area radiologist, specializing in nuclear medicine and breast imaging technology. Born in Texas and raised in Virginia, Less is known for his cameo weekend appearances, heavy pours, killer cave tours, and devotion to the vineyards that are the foundation of Dutch Henry wines. Maggie is the arbiter of style at Dutch Henry. She owns Dottie Doolittle in San Francisco where the best dressed children take their parents to shop. A California native and Master Gardener, Maggie is responsible for Dutch Henry's organic olive orchard and production of the wineries famous extra virgin olive oil. She also makes sure Less is dressed properly. Scott is the lynchpin of the entire operation. Like his mother Scott is also a California native. He is the artistic energy driving the winemaking program at Dutch Henry. He draws you in with unpretentious playfulness, but captures your attention with his knowledge and eagerness to share what he loves. Barbara Lencioni is our official Cork Counter . Besides being consistently the best dressed, she is in charge of all things concerning money. We are all extra nice to Barbara. Gary Koehler is the wineries official Man of Many Hats and resident bard.A California native as well, Gary is a singer song writer who has produced four albums which we all know by heart. When not opening for Michael McDonald or the late Jerry Garcia, Gary is on the road making sure every great restaurant and wine store in the USA is serving Dutch Henry. He is also responsible for every bad habit the three Airedales have and has unfortunately launched their singing career. Wil Mendoza is the Man of many pumps and hoses . A native of El Salvador, Wil is Cellar Master, Assistant Winemaker, and tour guide extraordinaire. Tony Dodd is a native Californian ( fourth generation he claims ) and is in charge of all things shipping at the winery and the Dutch Henry Wine Club. We refer to him as the Shipping Dude . Julius Orth is a native Brit who now is in charge of all onsite hospitality and events at the winery. He is also responsible for all of our e-mail correspondence.
