Provided by YPmobileInitially, I had problems with this facility. I walked in as a suicide crisis patient and was not treated as such, made to wait all day long, never got the paper work completed and they allowed me to leave in an unstable condition. I submitted a complaint, and they never got back to me, so I took that as a sign of extreme disrespect. So I typed out some documents and submitted my complaint and written statement again, and asked to talk to the supervisor. That actually got they're attention, and the attention of they're quality management department. It's never ok to allow a suicidal and unmedicated mentally ill individual to leave a mental health facility without being stabilized properly, and I know I wasn't being treated correctly. It's very important for all mentally ill disabled people to know and understand their rights, and to be able to advocate for themselves in a respectful and dignified manner. We have to put fourth extra effort to control our emotions in frustrating situations, but the results speak for themselves. Since I've brought the attention to how I was treated, I'm getting the care I deserved all along and went in there for to begin with. I have a BHT, case manager, psychiatric med manager, and will be joining an art therapy group as well as doing one on one therapy to teach me further coping skills, social skills and stress management techniques. They all know my name and greet me with a smile and treat me kindly and with respect. I couldn't ask for more, but I had to make it happen. So many mentally ill people get taken advantage of, please don't be another one. You can fight for your rights. Be your own advocate.
