This place is full of rude employees. I recognize a respect for educated, well-trained staff no matter where you look in New York State. But the nurses at this hospital are short, mean and seem to get a rise out of patients' misery. I work with a local charity, and have been present for the labor of two of my mentees in the labor and delivery suite. One of my girls was crying in pain and nurse Janice told her: "You are having a baby! This how you are GOING to feel!" When the young woman told her she "couldn't take it", Nurse Janice yelled at her and screamed: "Stop talking like that!" I have had two children myself, and when I was giving birth, the nurses were there to rub my forehead, talk to me, and assure me that things would be okay. None of that happened for my friend. My other mentee was told she couldn't have pain medication. Her blood work was done, so she was clear for an epidural, but somehow, they failed to mention this to her family, claiming that she didn't "want one". This was not the case. She didn't want one RIGHT THEN. Instead, she wanted Newbane since she had been in labor for almost a whole day and was worn down. I have since heard many women from various Buffalo demographics about similar maltreatment and verbal abuse. ALSO - Nurse Janice made one of my girls who could hardly walk because of the level of pain she was experiencing, walk down two hallways...far ahead of her patient while she leaned against the wall, holding her back and crying, past a room where they were removing a container of BLOOD from a previous birth! NEVER have I seen such a terrible representation of the Hippocratic Oath that should trickle down to the nurse staff. Nurse Janice was the worst, but not the ONLY bad staff member I dealt with at this hospital.
