I had the unfortunate experience of loosing my wife suddenly. She went to a nursing facility for rehab after knee surgery. she was doing fine. I spoke with her at 7:30 am and at 12:00 noon or there about I got a telephone call informing me she died in her sleep! As I work part time, I always visited at 1;00 pm or so. I couldn't breath...I was in shock. I couldn't even call me daughters as I couldn't remember their numbers. I just went numb. Some co-workers calmed me down and drove me to the nursing home. My daughters met me there. After a while, the nurse said would you like me to call the undertaker for you. OMG I guess we have to.....but who. My sister-in-law suggested Masons by her house in Kaisertown. He came with a cot and did his best to keep it hidden. This man sat in the room with my family for well over an hour and listened to us share stories and cry. But the nursing home was impatient. My wife wanted to be cremated and have a catholic mass. So, this was really goodbye for us. not even the grand kids could all be there. I couldn't bring myself to go to a funeral home, so he came to the house the next morning. Did paperwork, and i wanted her dressed and things to go with her. That evening, we were asked to come to the funeral home and say good bye with all the family. My darling wife looked like an angel. So peaceful and beautiful. We spent about fours hours and were not charged. The staff at Mason's were efficient yes, most important kind, compassionate and helpful in every way. I don't mean to write a book, but my family and I are astonished by their concern and how much they went above and beyond. A difficult time was eased and it helped to know she was treated with dignity, respect and love. I would recommend Mason's for these reasons. The home itself is breath taking....not cavernous but tasteful and home like and CLEAN. They were more than reasonable and fair with their prices as well. On behalf of our family, we shall never forget the kindness and friendship extended to us. By the way, when we were there for a private goodbye, coffee, tea, cookies and pastries were hand served. We were never rushed out and always made comfortable.May God Bless you all for taking such good care of ALL OF US. With immeasurable gratitude the Walkers.

My name is George Biniski and I live in the Kaisertown section of Buffalo. My wife and I remember when the old Sittniewski Funeral Home re-opened in 2008 under the direction of Mr. Mason. We recently attended a wake for our neighbor there and I have to say they already "re-freshed" the home. Paint, lightening, carpeting and furniture. It looked as clean and fresh as it did on the grand opening. For the first time we engaged one of the staff members, (didn't ask if he was a director) by the name of Dan. Very friendly, knowledgeable about "our" neighborhood and easy-going. We met Mr. Mason, also welcoming and friendly. You are greeted at the door, escorted in the building, offered bottled water and handed a program and memorial card. Truly, a first-class operation. Many families have been pleased and they soon gained a reputation for honest, integrity, fair prices and cleanliness. My brother-in-law asked for information and Mr. Mason gave him a brochure, a price list and service catalog

My name is Susanne and unfortunately my family has had to us Mason's three time since 2009. First was for my Uncle who chose immediate cremation and no service. After calling various facilities and obtaining prices and information. We were most comfortable and confident in this funeral home. When my Mother-in-Law passed there was a traditional funeral and wake. She looked beautiful- like she was sleeping. Once again, they went above and beyond. Recently my brother passed and we had a wake and funeral. Again, he went above and beyond. I think Kevin Mason is the only Director (we always met with him), but all the staff were friendly and nice. Always concerned about what they could do. There prices are probably better than most and the service is quality, professional and detail oriented. Although the place is somewhat on the smaller side; (It's basically a house converted), it was large enough to have 70 people for a service. I would recommend them again. Sue Pajadack

My family recently (within the past two months) used Kevin M. Mason Funeral Home for the third time since 2009. This time, unfortunately, my brother passed away. I have to say, they have been consistent with their service and their prices are more than fair. Each time, we met with Kevin, (I think he is the only Director, - but all the staff seem pleasant.) My sister-in-law wanted a small, simple wake for family, then cremation followed by a church service in a few days once the cremation was done. There was never any pressure to up- sell or persuede

My father-in-law passed away after a long illness and a four year stay in a nursing home. The last three weeks were horrific on him. His appearance changed and he lost so much weight. His choice was cremation; (we all knew this prior to his decline and after the rapid decline thought he made the right selection). We were rushed out of the nursing home at 3:00 AM by the nurse. My daughter who lives in Rochester did not make and other family member did not make it to the nursing home. We asked the Funeral Home Director if there could be an opportunity for a 10-15 "viewing" to say good bye before cremation. Prior to coming to the Funeral Home we received a call and we were told to bring anyone to a viewing. After meeting and making arrangements we were directed down the hall to s small chapel like room. There was Buddy. He was completely restored, face filled in, hair combed and dressed in his favorite pajamas. he stayed an hour everyone said a proper good bye. NO CHARGE. AMAZING GUYS

It's not often I decide to write a review, so this is rare. My father-in-law passed away at the VA Hospital in Buffalo. While he was sick, I had the charge of calling funeral homes in the area to get cremation prices and information. This is the only funeral home; (out of 7 that I called) that explained the process, was patient with all my questions and provided detailed explanations and charges. They were reasonable, accommodating and very compassionate. When the death occurred, everything was carried out in a prompt professional manner. All in all, we were impressed. Clearly, the passion for what they do and how they do it is evident from beginning to end. Even the secretary was so nice and helpful. Thank You very much

My Aunt passed away in Buffalo NY, and I live in Los Angeles. Not knowing who to call, the Nursing Facility suggested Kevin M. Mason. Over the phone, cathy was friendly, professional and polite. I told her I would arrive in Buffalo within 48-72 hours to complete the arrangements. My aunt wanted cremation with a memorial mass. When I arrived in Buffalo at the funeral home, I met with kevin. To my surprise, I was able to "visit " with my aunt, all dressed up, hair done and make up applied. She looked beautiful and so peaceful. I did not ask for this, but I remember telling cathy that I was sorry I did not have the opportunity to see my aunt before she passed. She informed kevin, and i had my opportunity to say good bye. I certinally expected to pay for their time and service, but was told there was no charge. This was such a positive experience under the worst circumstances. I will recommend these fine people. My grandmother passed away and the family used Kevin M. Mason for the funeral. Her Mass was scheduled at St. Casimir Church, opposite the Funeral Home, litterally 60 feet from door to door. Prayers were scheduled at 8:30AM. The Priest came to do prayers at 8:55 AM only after the funeral home staff kept calling and going over there to get him. The Mass began at 9:20 AM and again the Priest kept us waiting in the isle - just standing there. After Mass when were lined up to go to the cemetery, he kept us waining again. The Funeral Director had to go get him and he took his time getting to us. For what you pay to have a Funeral Mass at St. Casimir's - it's just not right. The Funeral Home did an unbelievable job servicing our family. My grandmother looked beautiful, just like she was sleeping and she even looked younger. The plates and the candles were beautiful. We must have given them 200 pictures for a dvd and they arranged the pictures and had her favorite music. Nice Job

My grandfather passed away in July and this funeral home was used because my grandmother and uncle made prior arrangements to use these people. Although it was very hot and humid outside the way of his visitation, it was freezing inside the funeral home. Some people liked it - some did not like how cold it was. However, there are 13 grandchildren and we all brought things to display, pictures, race cars, flowers, posters, etc. and they were very accomodating in every aspect. We were never rushed out- in fact the visitation ended at 8PM and with not seeing relatives/friends in so long, we were all talking and lost track of time. It was 9:00 PM When we realized we were leaving late. Cathy didn't mind and actually let us stay to read poems and talk about our grandfather. The bottled water, veterans gifts, and the plates were nice touches and unexpected. Other than the air conditioning, which they turned down, everything was excellent. pops would have been proud. It was nice.

I had a dear friends husband pass suddenly at age 48. I live in Amherst and never heard of Kaisertown or this establishment. I rarely travel outside by boundres, so going to Clinton St. was like taveligto the other ide of the world. When I called for directions, she was so nice and stayed on the phone for a while. I got lost and called from Harlem Rd & Clinton St. A gentleman stayed on the phone with me until I pulled up to the front door. It's on a small residential street - out of the way. The valet parking was nice and I was greeted at the door. It's a gem inside, beautiful. I asked a friend why "here" - out of the way. Apparently due to reputation and standard of service they were selected to help my friend and he family. From what I experienced, I agree.

My name is Stephanie Machowski and I live in Cheektowaga, NY. This is the first time I've ever written a review for anything!. My mother asked me to accompany her and my grandmother to make pre-arrangements for my grandfather, who is in a nursing home and going to need financial assistance. They visited another funeral home in the area two weeks prior, but decided against it because of the price and atmosphere of the funeral home. Our appointment was Friday 2/11/11. He was ready for us, had all the paperwork available, cold bottled water at each place setting and made us feel comfortable. My grandmother who was upset was given guidance and advice. We especially appreciated all the Veterans extras they will provide at no additional cost. In comparrison, including the church, cemetery and all the exstras, we estimated a savings of $3,000.00. This funeral home , recently re-done and opened is breathtaking! elegant and modern and very clean. Thank you Sir for helping my family.

On December 22, 2010, my brother, who suffered on and off from depression, made the tragic decision while in an extreme state of intoxication to end his own life. Fortunately, through a friend, I was connected with Kevin Mason, who sat with me, my niece and her mom for at least two hours on Christmas Eve. He compassionately and competently guided us through the whole process, was always available, and genuinely cared. The funeral home is BEAUTIFUL. The service was AMAZING. I can't imagine a better tribute to my poor brother's life. THIS MAN IS NOT IN IT FOR THE MONEY, and HE CARES. He had a very nice grief counselor, Dan, at the service to kindly help out my family members and friends who were all in shock and pain. The service did a lot of healing in ways no one had expected. I don't know how Kevin does it or what we would've done without him. I thank God for him. May his guardian angel always watch over him so he can continue to do his good work. Dia Leat Kevin.

My brother pased on October 15, 2010. He took his own life by overdosing. Needless to say we were all devestated, shocked and, at the same time angry and hurt. We contacted Kevin Mason and he met with us at 9:00 PM that Friday evening. We didn't want to wait until morning. He was so nice to all of us. From making us laugh, to giving us breaks while planning the funeral. It was like he was family. We are now in their support group with Dan. This has help so much I can't put it into words. he came to the house to complete the remaining paperwork and brought these beautiful commerative plates he had commissioned for our family. If you ever need a funeral home, I know you would be happy with these guys. My family can not express our gratitude and appreciation. Thank You so much. Shirley W. Bardowski, West Seneca, NY.

My granddaughter,Moriah died of sids. We live in the "Kaisertown" area and wasn't sure to contact as far as funeral directors. A neighbor suggested Kevin M. Mason Funeral Home as she used the facility when her dad passed away. Mr. Mason was compassionate, very detailed, professional and sensitive to our needs. He invited my daughter and son-in-law back to the funeral home to dress their baby. At first I was hesitant, but as it turned out, this was so theraputic. He knew exactly what he was talking about in helping us. The Funeral Home is beautiful and modern. Very gracious and serene. When it came to paying the bill (no pressure on his part), he said there was no bill and all he wanted us to do was support one another and be together. Unbelievable!! He would not take a dime from us for his service. Many people in the neighborhood has used Mr. Mason and have been very pleased and felt he was excellent. Sincerely Geraldine W. Kaminiski
