Cofounders, Elena Solitario and Paul Pastore, opened Pilo Arts in 1978. Since its inception, Pilo Arts has been committed to customer service, quality work, a professional atmosphere and a successful staff. These goals are accomplished through constant awareness of customer needs, and the continuous education and training of staff members. Pilo Arts looks to the future, accepting all new challenges with enthusiasm. Extraordinary Client Relationships and Passionate Service are key to our success. 1985 Pilo started a training academy for cutting and coloring. Paul, a creative and talented artist, headed the training. His students became the new stars at Pilo, each becoming extremely successful. Today, 95% of the salon's colorists and stylists are comprised of students who graduated from Pilo's Masters Academy. 1986 Pilo ventured out to pioneer uncharted avenues by constructing a 3, 200 square foot Day Spa, whose posh and relaxing atmosphere was the first of its kind in Brooklyn. Further changes in the early 90's emphasized relaxation, and thus innovative services were introduced. 1998 The salon undergoes a $800, 000 facelift. The d cor reflects the coming of a new age, the millennium. It incorporated practical aspects of functionality, productivity, environmental awareness, and respect for the traditional marketing needs of glamour and elegance. A blend of Rome and the Orient, the salon incorporates earth tones, natural material, rice paper dividers, copper and steel workstations with light natural wood cabinetry and Bella Terra floors. It is truly gorgeous! 1999 Pilo Arts was granted admission into Intercoiffure, the nation's elite organization for salons. Membership into Intercoiffure is highly prized. Salons recognized by Intercoiffure bring artistry and style into the fashion world. 1999 Pilo Arts was granted admission into the International SPA Association ( ISPA ). To achieve member status, Pilo's Day Spa had to meet high standards of excellence in the Spa Industry and pledge to abide to the ISPA Code of Ethics. 1999 Pilo Arts was accepted into Salon Today 200 and recognized as one of the top 200 Salons in North America, not only for its growth but for the standards that it sets in the beauty industry. 1999 Pilo Arts is recognized for donating over $100, 000 in services a year to charitable organizations and civic groups.
