Provided by YP.comI *NEVER* write reviews for these things but I am furious right now and want to make good on my promise to the manager to tell everyone to stay away from his store!
Last Friday I purchased paper good for my daughter's second birthday. We were nly having some family over and were not sure what we would need. I spent about $110.00. I didn't think to ask about a return or exchange policy, nor was I informed of one. There was nothing posted anywhere in the store, nor was there any information on the receipt.
It is now one week later and I was just in the store trying to return about $40 worth of UNOPENED supplies. The previously friendly man was extremely rude immediately upon finding out that I was there to do a return. I asked if he accepts returns and he said "No." When he saw my angry face he quickly changed his response to "Well, let's see what you have in the bag." This struck me as rather odd, because you either do returns or you don't. He told me he would "let me" return one of each thing I had (I had about 3 sets of dinner plates, 2 sets of dessert plates, the same amount of each type of napkin and a few packages of cups). I told him that was unacceptable and he told me it was standard policy of ALL party stpres (it is NOT - I have returned things successfully to Party Fair and Party City in the past). When I asked him why there was no policy posted he laughed at me and told me he remembered telling me. This is a lie. He did NOT tell me and talked more to my 2 year old daughter and his supplier than he did me the entire time I was there.
When he saw how angry I was getting he said he would "do me a favor" and let me return the things for store credit. I did not want store credit, as I had originally stated; I wanted a credit to my credit card. If he had offerred me store credit in the beginning, perhaps I would have taken it, but by this time it had become clear he was a man I would rather not do business with and I told him such. He shrugged as I packed up the things.
I told him that I would make sure I told anyone who asked about party stores (and this topic comes up a LOT in my older daughter's school and my younger daughter's playgroups, etc.) not to give him business and now I am telling all of you! He may have MY $40, but hopefully you can save yours! I hope it was worth it to him to lose so much of my future business and possibly others!
And if the manager happens to ever read this - THIS is precisely why SOME small stores go out of business and chain stores are thriving - good customer service is VITAL and if you had given me just that you would have had a customer for life. Instead I will go back to using Birthday Express and Party Fair!
