Chesapeake Center for Youth Development is a nonprofit organization founded in 1974 that offers developmental and educational programs and services to children facing various hardships, such as poverty, single parent families, missed educational opportunities, limited community and personal resources, neglect and abuse. For more than 30 years its Chesapeake Alternative School has served young people between the ages of 13- and 20-years who are involved with the departments of juvenile and social services. The school s curriculum addresses four core subjects, English, math, social studies and science, and also provides additional instructional and tutorial sessions to students requiring them. It also offers various after school care programs that focus on various areas, such as education, risk reduction, art, technology, music, athletics, life skills, service learning, job development and counseling. Chesapeake Center for Youth Development is located in Baltimore.
