Founded in 1858, the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is a charitable organization that focuses on building strong children, families and communities. It operates preschool and Head Start programs that assist children to become self reliant. The organization also provides after-school child care and enrichment services. It is a part of the YMCA of the USA, which is one of the largest, nonprofit community service organizations in the United States. The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta offers exercise support to children and adults through the Youth Fit For Life and THE COACH APPROACH programs. The organization additionally conducts aquatic, adult education and volunteer development activities.
