NIDC, also known as the Neighborhood Initiatives Development Corporation, is a nonprofit, multiservice community-based organization that provides a wide range of services for individuals and families. It works with both tenants and building owners to provide solutions for a variety of housing needs. The organization also provides a range of tenant counseling services, which address issues like repairs, harassment, lease renewals and rent overcharges. It conducts periodic workshops to educate tenants and landlords about their rights. NIDC arranges after-school programs and serves more than 150 children in grades kindergarten through five. It offers a wide range of activities for children that include group games, arts and crafts and outdoor trips. Additionally, it offers job readiness training programs for youth. NIDC is located in Bronx, N.Y.
