Gurkan Taviloglu, MD, is Attending Cardiologist at Montefiore and Assistant Professor of Medicine at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Since joining the Montefiore team, his clinical focus has been on cardiovascular disease prevention, treatment, and chronic management and cardiovascular testing with a focus on nuclear cardiology. He is also interested in collaboration with other disciplines and taking a team approach to chronic disease management. In 1991, Dr. Taviloglu received his Doctor of Medicine from Istanbul University School of Medicine. He remained in Istanbul, Turkey and began his postgraduate training with a residency in urology at the Haseki State Hospital, which he completed in 1992. He completed a second residency in urology in 1993 at Istanbul University School of Medicine. Following this, Dr. Taviloglu’s training continued at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas with a fellowship in urology, impotence and genitourinary prosthetics, which he completed in 1994. From 1994 to 2000, Dr. Taviloglu trained at Lenox Hill Hospital. During this time, he completed an internship in internal medicine, a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease.Dr. Taviloglu’s research has focused on a number of topics, including cardiology, urinary incontinence and intervention outcome. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, articles and books and has been presented internationally.He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Taviloglu is a member of many professional societies, including the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Medical Association.
