The Bronx District Attorney's Office is responsible for prosecuting crimes within the Bronx County s borders in the state of New York. The office employs nearly 400 assistant district attorneys and over 400 support staff. It offers screening, investigation and prosecution services through its seven departments that inlcude the Appeals Bureau, Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Bureau, Criminal Court Bureau, Domestic Violence Bureau, Gang Prosecution/Major Case Bureau, General Crimes Division and Investigations Division. Since 1992, the Bronx District Attorney's Office has used drug treatment as an alternative to incarceration for appropriate first time felony drug defendants and those with prior nonviolent felony convictions. It is a part of the government of the Bronx County in the state of New York.
