Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth, located in Canaan, N.Y., is a statewide nonprofit social service organization that works with at-risk children and their families. The center provides community and school-based programs for boys and girls. Additionally, it provides secure and nonsecure detention for youth who are awaiting action on court cases. Some of its programs are offered statewide, and some are offered in selected counties. The program helps students return to or remain in school through graduation, and have no trouble with the legal system. The center also offers programs through collaborative efforts with other child welfare agencies, and its family services models are used by other recognized agencies.
