Absolutely horrific. Wish we could give 0 Stars. Below is a portion of a letter we sent after our experience with the loss of our dog, Jax. Never got a doctor to respond. Even after we lost our dog, they sent us a reminder postcard for a well-check. Horrible!!!!...Our dog, Jax, passed away at your hospital a few hours after surgery on April 18th. After hearing he passed away, we never received any further communication from you. There was no follow-up to discuss what may have went wrong. There was no contact to express further condolences and see how our family and other dog were doing. As background, our dog Jax had had a couple weeks of on-and-off poor eating and some vomiting to start the month of April. We thought it may have just been a stomach bug, since his energy level was still high. On the evening of Thursday, April 13th he started to not want to eat or drink well. He did not eat or drink Friday, April 14th Sunday, April 16th and became lethargic. On Monday, April 17th, I called the Animal Clinic of Sterling Heights at 7:17am and no appointments were left for the day so they directed me to go to Wilson Veterinary Hospital. As I live far away, I arrived by 8:30am with our dog to be examined. Dr. Krieger examined him, was very concerned and had him x-rayed quickly. When reviewing the x-ray, he explained to me that Jax had two issues. The first was a piece of what appeared to be metal wire that he swallowed that was in his stomach. The second was a very large foreign body (he speculated fabric, like a sock) in his intestines. Given the size of our dog (8lb yorkipoo) it was even something he could feel through his skin. Dr. Krieger pointed out it was a serious concern. He recommended fluids under his skin to see if the objects would move, but that if he was vomiting and still not eating in 4 hours that he should go in for emergency surgery. He even pointed out that if something didnt change quickly that he would likely pass away from the conditions. I brought my dog home and over the next 4 hours of watching him (10:00am-2:00pm), he vomited 3 more times. I called at 10:14am and 1:53pm to relay his condition and brought him right back in to the office by 3:00. I was told he would be on stand-by for the needed surgery and would hopefully go in that evening or overnight. When I called at 10:00pm, I was told he had not gone in yet, but they were hopefully he would go in by around 2:00 or 3:00am. I heard nothing all night, so then called again at 7:13am to check on him. I was told he was still on stand-by for surgery. Then, I finally received a message from Dr. Hawkins at 11:13am saying they did another x-ray and saw the wire had moved so they wanted to wait and see if they could avoid surgery. As soon as I received the message I called back to state that that was only one of the problems he had. What was happening with the more critical, larger foreign body? This object was tightly lodged and never went anywhere (as was confirmed by the technician who called post-surgery). We believe this second condition was realized by the other doctor after my message was received, and Jax was brought in for surgery at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 18th. This was 23 hours after I brought him in. At 3:23pm, he was done with surgery and I was told all went well. They removed wire, fabric, grass, hair and stool. At 8:06pm I suddenly received a call that said to call back as it was urgent. I called back immediately, but after trying to access the surgery department was directed to a voicemail inbox. I then had to call back a second time and wait several minutes for the doctor to be put on the line. When he did come to the line, I was told Jax had passed away. I began crying, so I was HUNG UP ON after only about a minute. This was the last of contact we received. I wish that if you were too busy to take our dog and give him good timely care that you would have told us. We would have taken him elsewhe
